Also means
massacre
Usage Note
Carnicería primarily means a butcher's shop, but it is also used figuratively to mean a bloody massacre or carnage — fue una carnicería (it was a bloodbath). The person who works there is el/la carnicero/a. Do not confuse with charcutería, which sells cured meats and deli products.
Examples
"Compré carne fresca en la carnicería."
Natural Translation
I bought fresh meat at the butcher's.
