caliente
hot
adjective kah-LYEN-teh Less Common
Origin: From Latin calens, present participle of calere (to be warm).
Also means
warm (to the touch)
Usage Note
Caliente describes temperature — of objects, food, weather, or water — and is used with estar (temporary state): el café está caliente. In several Latin American varieties it also carries a colloquial meaning of 'angry'. Beware applying it to a person: calling someone caliente implies sexual arousal and is vulgar, so use guapo or atractivo for 'attractive'.
Examples
"Toma la sopa caliente antes de que se enfríe."
Natural Translation
Eat the hot soup before it gets cold.
