Usage Note

Calentar is a stem-changing verb (e→ie): caliento, calientas, calienta. It means to heat food, a room, or a person, and also 'to warm up' before sport (calentar antes del partido). The reflexive calentarse can mean to get heated (literally or figuratively, as in an argument). The adjective caliente (hot, warm) shares the same root.
