Usage Note

Brillantez denotes outstanding intellectual or artistic brilliance — la brillantez de su actuación (the brilliance of his performance). It is distinct from brillo (physical shine or gloss) and from brillante (adjective: brilliant). The -z ending shifts to -c- before pluralizing: brillanteces, though the word is rarely used in the plural.
