bendecir
to bless
verb ben-deh-SEER Rare
Origin: From Latin benedicere, 'to speak well of, to bless.'
Usage Note
Bendecir follows the same irregular pattern as decir in most tenses: the imperative is bendice (tú), the past participle is bendecido (or the older literary bendito). Bendito is also used as a standalone adjective meaning 'blessed' or, colloquially, 'blessed/good' with mild sarcasm.
Examples
"El sacerdote bendijo el agua."
Natural Translation
The priest blessed the water.
