Usage Note
Apostólico relates to the apostles of Jesus or to the authority they are held to have transmitted — la Santa Sede Apostólica (the Holy Apostolic See). The formula apostólico y romano appears in official Church documents. It can also mean papal: nuncio apostólico (apostolic nuncio) is the Vatican's ambassador to a country.
