bañista

bather

noun bah-NYEES-tah Rare

Also means

swimmer

Usage Note

Bañista is a common-gender noun — el/la bañista — so it does not change form for masculine or feminine. It means a person bathing at a beach, pool, or spa. In Spain it is the standard word on beach-safety signs. Do not confuse with bañero/a (lifeguard, used mainly in Latin America) or traje de baño (swimsuit).

Examples

"Los bañistas disfrutaron del agua cálida."

Natural Translation

The bathers enjoyed the warm water.
