aviso

warning

noun ah-BEE-soh Less Common

Also means

notice

Usage Note

Aviso covers both a formal notice (aviso legal = legal disclaimer) and an informal heads-up (te doy un aviso = I'm warning you). Previo aviso ('prior notice') and sin previo aviso ('without warning') are fixed phrases. Do not confuse with consejo (advice) — aviso is a notification, not a recommendation.

Examples

"El aviso apareció en la pantalla de repente."

Natural Translation

The warning appeared on the screen suddenly.
