Usage Note
Asentamiento denotes a human settlement, ranging from prehistoric sites (asentamiento neolítico) to informal urban settlements (asentamiento informal = a shantytown). It is also used in archaeology and geopolitics (asentamiento israelí = 'Israeli settlement'). The verb is asentarse (to settle).
