arrastrar

to drag

verb ah-rrahs-TRAHR Less Common

Also means

to pull along

Usage Note

Arrastrar conveys dragging something along a surface or hauling it reluctantly; arrastrar los pies ('to drag one's feet') means to be reluctant or slow. Reflexively, arrastrarse means to crawl or grovel. The double r is trilled and the word begins with a vowel, so the trill is especially strong.

Examples

"El niño arrastró su mochila por el suelo."

Natural Translation

The boy dragged his backpack along the floor.
