Argüir is a formal verb meaning to put forward arguments or to reason towards a conclusion; it overlaps with argumentar and alegar but carries a slightly more intellectual or juridical tone. Note the diaeresis in the infinitive and some conjugated forms (argüís, argüimos), which signals that the ü is pronounced. It is an irregular -uir verb and conjugates like huir: arguyo, arguyes… in the present tense.
