Usage Note

Acomodar means to arrange, seat, or accommodate — acomodar a los invitados ('to seat the guests'). Reflexively, acomodarse means to settle in or get comfortable: se acomodó en el sillón ('he settled into the armchair'). In Latin America it can also carry the colloquial sense of pulling strings to get someone a position (le acomodaron un trabajo), implying nepotism.
