Acá expresses location near the speaker, like aquí, but implies motion or a vaguer, more directional 'over here.' It is more common in Latin America than in Spain, where aquí dominates. The contrast acá/allá (here/there with motion implied) parallels aquí/allí (here/there as fixed points). Ven acá ('come here') sounds more natural than ven aquí in many Latin American dialects.
