Usage Note
Zanahoria is one of several Spanish words of Arabic origin (*al-*words and others) that entered the language during the Moorish period. It is always feminine: una zanahoria. Learners sometimes misspell it; the silent-h and the -oria ending are the trickiest parts. There are no common regional variants—it is the standard term throughout the Spanish-speaking world.
Examples
"Añade unas zanahorias al caldo."
Natural Translation
Add some carrots to the broth.
