Usage Note
Veracidad is a formal, abstract noun meaning the quality of being truthful or accurate — more often applied to statements, reports, or sources than to people (for whom honestidad or sinceridad is more natural). It comes from Latin verax (truthful). A near-synonym is verosimilitud (plausibility, verisimilitude), but that word denotes the appearance of truth rather than truth itself. Learners writing academic Spanish will encounter la veracidad de los datos ('the accuracy of the data') frequently.
Examples
"Puse en duda la veracidad de sus palabras."
Natural Translation
I questioned the truthfulness of his words.
