Usage Note
Vejez is an abstract noun; its -z changes to -c in the plural: vejeces (rarely used). It contrasts with juventud (youth) and madurez (middle-age maturity). The saying a la vejez, viruelas (smallpox in old age) is used ironically when someone takes up a new habit late in life.
Examples
"Pasó su vejez en un pueblo tranquilo."
Natural Translation
She spent her old age in a quiet village.
