Usage Note
Valorar means both to appreciate the worth of something emotionally (valoro mucho tu ayuda = 'I really appreciate your help') and to assess it formally (un perito valoró los daños = 'an expert assessed the damage'). It differs from evaluar, which is more technical and exam-oriented.
