fainting fit
Usage Note
Vahído (also spelled vaguido in some varieties) refers specifically to a brief episode of dizziness or near-fainting, distinct from a full desmayo (faint). It is a medical/formal register word; in everyday speech mareo is more common. The accent on the i is obligatory to break the diphthong: va-hí-do, three syllables.
Examples
"Le dio un vahído al levantarse demasiado rápido."
Natural Translation
She had a dizzy spell from getting up too quickly.
