tributario
tax; tributary
adjective tree-boo-TAH-ryoh Rare
Origin: From Latin tributarius (one who pays tribute).
Usage Note
Tributario primarily functions as a legal or fiscal adjective: sistema tributario (tax system), reforma tributaria (tax reform), evasión tributaria (tax evasion). It also has its geographic sense: a río tributario is a tributary river. Unlike fiscal (which is a closer synonym in tax contexts in Spain), tributario is preferred in formal legal texts across Latin America.
Examples
"El gobierno anunció una reforma tributaria."
Natural Translation
The government announced a tax reform.
