Toma derives from tomar (to take) and covers several senses: a film or TV take/shot (la toma final), a dose of medicine (toma diaria = 'daily dose'), and a capture or seizure (la toma de la ciudad). The phrase toma y daca means give-and-take. In electrical contexts, toma de corriente is a power socket.
