Usage Note
Territorio refers to land under a jurisdiction (territorio nacional, 'national territory') but also to a broader geographic area. Territorio de ultramar is 'overseas territory'. Do not confuse with terreno ('terrain, plot of land'), which is more physical and specific. The adjective is territorial.
