Usage Note

Suponer is conjugated like poner: irregular first-person present supongo, and the same changes in the preterite (supuse) and subjunctive. Se supone que ('it is supposed to') introduces a common spoken pattern: se supone que viene hoy ('he is supposed to come today'). Do not confuse with asumir, which is gaining ground but can sound more formal.
