Usage Note
Sosiego denotes a deep, settled calm — more interior than calma and more lasting than tranquilidad. The verb sosegar (to calm, to quieten) is its root, though less common. The phrase en sosiego ('in peace and quiet') and perder el sosiego ('to lose one's peace of mind') are idiomatic. It belongs to a literary register and appears frequently in prose and poetry.
Examples
"El campo le devolvió el sosiego perdido."
Natural Translation
The countryside returned his lost tranquility.
