Usage Note

Rápido works as an adjective (un coche rápido = 'a fast car') and informally as an adverb meaning 'quickly' (¡Hazlo rápido!). The standard adverb form is rápidamente, but rápido is extremely common in speech. The superlative is rapidísimo. Note the initial rr sound (written single r at the start of a word) — it is a trill, not the soft r of intervocalic position.
