rutina

routine

noun rroo-TEE-nah Rare

Origin: From French routine, ultimately route (road, regular path).

Usage Note

Rutina refers to a habitual sequence of actions (rutina diaria, 'daily routine') and, in computing/programming, a subrutina ('subroutine'). As an adjective, de rutina means 'routine' or 'routine check' (revisión de rutina). It does not carry the English pejorative 'boring routine' automatically — to express tedium, add aburrida or monótona.

Examples

"Salir a correr forma parte de su rutina diaria."

Natural Translation

Going for a run is part of her daily routine.
