rociar

to spray, to sprinkle

verb bee-hee-LAH-doh Rare

Usage Note

Rociar means to scatter liquid in fine droplets — used for spraying plants, seasoning food, or applying aerosols. It follows the pattern of enviar and liar: the i takes an accent in some present-tense forms (rocío, rocías, rocía, rocían) to break the diphthong and show it is stressed. Do not confuse rociar with rocío (dew), the noun derived from the same root.

Examples

"Rocía las plantas cada mañana."

Natural Translation

Spray the plants every morning.
