Resistencia covers physical endurance (resistencia física = 'physical stamina'), resistance to change or authority (resistencia al cambio), and electrical resistance in physics. La Resistencia with a capital letter refers historically to underground anti-fascist movements. The verb resistir (to resist/withstand) is its direct root.
