Rescatado is the past participle of rescatar used as an adjective, agreeing in gender and number with the noun it modifies (los mineros rescatados, the rescued miners; la niña rescatada). It implies active intervention — someone pulled the subject from danger. It should not be confused with salvado (saved in a general or spiritual sense) or liberado (freed from captivity).
