Renal is a medical adjective meaning 'of or relating to the kidneys'. It is used in formal and clinical Spanish: insuficiencia renal (renal failure), cálculo renal (kidney stone), trasplante renal (kidney transplant). In everyday speech, del riñón or de riñón is the colloquial alternative (dolor de riñón). It does not change for gender (un problema renal, una diálisis renal).
