religión
religion
noun rreh-lee-HYOHN Less Common
Origin: From Latin religio (bond, obligation, reverence).
Usage Note
Religión is feminine. The singular carries the written accent; the plural religiones drops it because the stress no longer falls on the final syllable. The adjective is religioso/a. It is also used loosely for any strong commitment: el fútbol es su religión.
Examples
"La libertad de religión es un derecho humano."

Freedom of religion is a human right.
