Usage Note

Recién is an adverb used before participles or certain adjectives — recién llegado (newly arrived), recién nacido (newborn). In Spain, 'recently' on its own is usually recientemente; recién in this standalone sense is characteristic of Latin American Spanish. It is the apocopated form of recientemente and must directly precede the modified word.

Examples

"El bebé es recién nacido."

Natural Translation

The baby is newborn.
