Usage Note
Recientemente typically refers to the recent past and often triggers the perfect tense in Spain (ha llegado recientemente) but the preterite in Latin America (llegó recientemente). It is synonymous with hace poco in casual speech. As an adverb it is invariable and usually placed after the verb or at the start of the sentence.
