Rebelar is always used reflexively as rebelarse ('to rebel against'), taking the preposition contra: rebelarse contra la autoridad. Do not confuse with revelar ('to reveal'), which sounds almost identical but is spelled differently; this is one of Spanish's classic homophones in seseo regions.
