Usage Note
Raro is a versatile adjective: before a noun it tends to mean 'rare' (un raro ejemplar, a rare specimen), while after a noun or with ser/estar it means 'strange' (qué raro, how strange; es una persona rara, she's an odd person). The adverb raramente means 'rarely' or 'strangely'. It is a false friend of English 'rare' (undercooked meat = poco hecho).
