point
Usage Note
Punta denotes the sharp or narrow end of something — a knife tip, a cape of land, or a leading edge. The idiom de punta a punta means 'from one end to the other'. It should not be confused with punto ('point, dot, period'). In Spain puntero ('pointer') derives from it; estar de punta can mean to be at odds with someone.
Examples
"La punta del cuchillo estaba muy afilada."
Natural Translation
The tip of the knife was very sharp.
