Usage Note

Prólogo refers to the introductory section of a book, play, or speech, written by the author or by a guest. The -go ending keeps the hard /g/ sound: prólogos in the plural. The counterpart is epílogo ('epilogue'). In everyday speech, prólogo can also describe any drawn-out preamble before getting to the point.
