Usage Note
Profesorado is a collective noun meaning the entire body of teachers at an institution — equivalent to 'teaching staff' or 'faculty'. It is always singular in form and takes a singular verb (el profesorado apoya la huelga). Don't confuse it with profesión (profession) or profesional (professional). The individual teacher is el/la profesor/a.
