Previo usually follows the noun: aviso previo ('prior notice'), el día previo ('the day before'). The fixed phrase sin previo aviso ('without prior warning') puts it before the noun. It is more formal than anterior (preceding) or pasado (past/last), and its adverb is previamente ('previously').
