Usage Note

Pesado means physically heavy (la maleta está muy pesada) but also colloquially describes a dull, tiresome, or annoying person or situation — ¡qué pesado eres! ('you're such a bore!'). As a noun un pesado / una pesada means 'a bore, a pain.' Contrast with grave (serious/grave) and gordo (fat), which are different dimensions of 'heavy.'
