Usage Note

Periodo (also spelled período with accent) refers to a span of time or a historical period. Both spellings are accepted by the RAE, with periodo increasingly preferred in modern usage. Do not confuse with periódico, which means newspaper or periodic.

"Ese periodo de la historia fue muy agitado."

Natural Translation

That period of history was very turbulent.
