Usage Note
Patriotismo refers to love of and loyalty to one's country, and is generally a neutral or positive term in Spanish. It contrasts with nacionalismo (nationalism), which carries stronger political connotations of ethnic or cultural exclusivity. The adjective is patriota (patriotic/a patriot, common gender).
