Parroquia is the basic Catholic territorial unit administered by a párroco (parish priest). In everyday speech it can also refer informally to the regular clientele of a bar or shop (la parroquia del bar = 'the bar's regulars'). The adjective is parroquial (colegio parroquial = parish school).
