Usage Note
Oh is used in Spanish exactly as in English to express surprise, admiration, or sudden realisation. It is distinct from ah (realisation, mild surprise) and ay (pain or dismay). In written Spanish it sometimes appears doubled: ¡Oh, oh! for theatrical effect. The inverted exclamation mark ¡ opens the interjection in formal writing.
Examples
"¡Oh, qué sorpresa tan agradable!"
Natural Translation
Oh, what a pleasant surprise!
