Escandalizar means to cause scandal or shock, and is also used reflexively—escandalizarse (to be shocked or outraged). The noun family includes escándalo (scandal) and escandaloso (scandalous). The verb belongs to the regular -ar conjugation; the -z- changes to -c- before e (escandalice).
