born

adjective nah-SEE-doh Less Common

Usage Note

Nacido is the past participle of nacer used as an adjective meaning 'born.' It often appears in set phrases: recién nacido ('newborn'), bien nacido ('well-born/noble'). As an adjective it agrees in gender and number: nacida, nacidos, nacidas. Do not confuse with nativo ('native'), which stresses cultural origin rather than birth itself.

Examples

"El bebé recién nacido duerme mucho."

Natural Translation

The newborn baby sleeps a lot.
