musulmán

Muslim

adjective moo-sool-MAHN Less Common

Origin: From Arabic muslim ('one who submits [to God]').

Usage Note

Musulmán functions as both adjective and noun: un musulmán / una musulmana ('a Muslim'). The plural forms are musulmanes (m/mixed) and musulmanas (f). Note the written accent on the final syllable, which shifts in the plural: musulmánmusulmanes (the accent is dropped as stress falls naturally on the penultimate syllable).

Examples

"Tiene amigos musulmanes de distintos países."

Natural Translation

He has Muslim friends from different countries.
