Movida is a colloquial term for a lively scene, a happening, or a messy situation depending on context. It is strongly associated with La Movida Madrileña, the cultural explosion in Madrid after Franco's death in the late 1970s–80s. In everyday Latin American Spanish it can also mean a shady deal or scheme.
