Usage Note
Modernista refers to the Modernismo movement — in Spanish architecture this is most associated with Catalan Art Nouveau (Gaudí), while in literature it denotes the late-19th-century Spanish-American movement led by Rubén Darío. The same form serves both genders (un edificio modernista, una poeta modernista).
