Usage Note

Misal is the liturgical book containing the texts for the Catholic Mass — prayers, readings, and responses organised by the church calendar. A learner may confuse it with misil ('missile'); the difference lies in a single vowel. The misal romano is the official Roman Missal promulgated by the Pope and used worldwide in the Latin Rite.
