Usage Note
Militar serves as both adjective (base militar, 'military base') and noun (el militar, 'the soldier/military man'). As a verb it also exists — militar en un partido means 'to be a member of a party' — though that use is less common. The adjective is invariable for gender: la policía militar, el desfile militar.
